Submission Grappling
Submission Grappling is among the most unique and effective martial arts disciplines. It is accessible to a wide range of individuals coming from varying fitness levels. Since self-defense is given just as much importance as physical conditioning, submission grappling just might be the fitness solution that so many have been searching for. And the professional grappling trainers at Matador MMA Academy know exactly how to guide participants in reaching their goals.
Submission Grappling Gives You the Element of Surprise
Submission Grappling is unique in that it teaches participants how to use grappling and ground moves, rather than more common techniques, such as strikes. Using a series of grappling techniques, participants are taught how to bring opponents to the ground and then use various submission moves to neutralize them. Striking techniques are given less prominence because if ground fight moves are administered properly, they are unnecessary. In fact, an individual that is proficient in grappling and submission on the ground can actually take advantage of the element of surprise with greater ease. Matador’s professional grappling instructors will teach you each of these techniques at a pace that suits your learning abilities.

Engage and Win Against Larger and Stronger Opponents with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ)
A unique aspect of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is that it teaches participants to engage and neutralize opponents that are both larger and stronger. Using ground-based techniques, you will learn to leverage both your weight and the opponents to gain an advantage. Matador’s instructors will then teach you to maintain a submissive position until your opponent taps out, keeping everyone safe. Although classmates are encouraged to spar with each other, you will be provided with the opportunity to practice with nonresistant partners in Matador’s Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) classes.
In addition to learning critical self-defense techniques, Matador’s Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) training will also help you get in shape. Physical conditioning is an important aspect of any martial arts regimen and especially so for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ). Each course will include warm up exercises to help prepare you for training and improve your fitness level. As you train, you will also use your body in new ways that will help tone muscles while burning fat with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ).
